FOREST CITY - Agnes Carlson, age 98 of Forest City, died Sunday, December 19, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Forest City.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Petersen Lund Funeral Home in Forest City with Vicar Corey Smith of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be held an hour prior to service. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Forest City.
Agnes O. Carlson was born in Leland, Iowa on March 14, 1912, the daughter of Albert O. and Annie (Moen) Carlson. She graduated from Leland High School, continued her education at Waldorf College in Forest City and graduated from the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Agnes taught school for many years in several Iowa communities ~ Leland, Lehigh and Roland. She later found employment as a bookkeeper, working for Augsburg Publishing House, the Lutheran Evangelistic Movement and the Lutheran Bible Institute. She was an avid reader and enjoyed a trip to Norway.
In the early 1980s, Agnes made her home in Forest City at Town Square Apartments. Failing health forced her to enter the Manly Care Center in Manly, Iowa. She returned to Forest City in the early 1990s and made her home at the Good Samaritan Care Center. She died there on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at the age of 98 years.
Agnes is survived by her sister, Ethel Haugen of Wanamingo, Minnesota and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Odin Carlson, sister Ruth Monson, twin brother Art Carlson, sister Henrietta Carlson, who died as a young child, and another sister, Henrietta Vogen.
