Alan L. Steenhard, 69, of Mason City died Monday, May 1, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa in Mason City.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, May 6th at First Reformed Church in Meservey with Rev. Rodney Meester officiating. Burial will be at Meservey Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9 A.M. until service time at the church on Saturday. Cataldo Funeral Home, Garner is in charge of arrangements.
Alan Lynn Steenhard was born January 22, 1948 to Engelard and Phyllis (Koenen) Steenhard. He grew up in Meservey and graduated from Meservey-Thornton High School in 1966. On December 21, 1968, he married Ann Counsell of Osage. They made their home in Mason City where they resided their entire married life. In December 2016, Alan and Ann moved into Kentucky Ridge Assisted Living in Mason City. Alan worked various jobs before becoming employed at Iowa Mold and Tool in Garner. He worked there for 28 years, retiring in 2012. Alan and Ann enjoyed going to auctions and garage sales together. Alan especially enjoyed collecting toys and antiques.
Alan is survived by his wife, Ann; a sister, Barbara (Jerry) Kropp of Garner; four brothers, Vernon (Carol) Steenhard of Olathe, KS, Wayne (Donna) Steenhard of Mason City, Warren Steenhard (Ann Shaffer) of Mason City and Mark (Debra) Steenhard of Garner; sisters-in-law, Sharon Counsell, Nancy (Jerry) Goble and Susan (Kenny) Hyke; brother-in-law, Michael (Penny) Counsell; nieces and nephews, Julie (Wes) Rains, Scott (Brooke) Steenhard, Brenda (Grant) Anderson, Shelby (Alana) Steenhard, Haylee (Ryan) Miller, Cade, Colton and Rhett Steenhard, Jennifer, Angela and Jeremy Goble and Nina and Matthew Counsell; and several great nieces and nephews.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, David Steenhard; parents-in-law, Carlin and Mary Counsell; sister-in-law, Dawn Steenhard; nephew, Ryan Kropp; and niece, Renae Kropp.
