Alberta L. Banker

BRITT – Alberta L. Banker, 89, of Britt died Thursday, May 7, 2015 at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.

A memorial gathering of friends and family will be held Sunday, May 17, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.at Cataldo Funeral Home, 178 1st Ave SW Britt.

Inurnment will be held at a later date in Litchfield, Nebraska.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to a Humane Society or Animal Shelter/Rescue of the donor’s choice.

Alberta Louise Banker, the eldest child of Louis Christopher and Ethel Jane (Cornford) Banker, was born July 22, 1925 in Litchfield, Nebraska. She attended school in Litchfield until she was 12 years old when her family moved to the Algona area where they farmed for several years. The family later moved to another farm between Britt and Kanawha where she attended and graduated from Kanawha High School in 1944. After high school, Alberta began working as a grocery clerk. She worked in Kanawha, Clear Lake and Britt. Alberta later worked at Winnebago Industries in Forest City on the production line for 21 years. Following her work at Winnebago, she retired to Britt. Alberta loved spending time with family and caring for animals. Her favorite hobbies included gardening and collecting family heirlooms.

Although Alberta moved to the Britt area when she was a young girl, she has remained a member of the Church of Christ in Litchfield, Nebraska throughout her lifetime.

Alberta is survived by her sister-in-law, Beryle Banker of Britt; niece, Becky Horton of Britt; nephews, Bob (Mary) Banker of Cedar Rapids, Lou (Julie) Banker of Cedar Rapids, Rich (Sue) Banker of Ankeny and Dave (Nafija) Banker of Sioux Falls, SD; and many other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert N. Banker; and nephew, Russell N. Banker.
