FOREST CITY - Alice M. Forslund, age 95 of Forest City, died Monday, March 29, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Forest City, Iowa.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with Pastor Rodd Hopp officiating. There will be no visitation.
Inurnment will be held later this spring at Osage Cemetery in Osage, Iowa.
Alice Marie Forslund was born on a farm near Thompson, Iowa on March 7, 1915 to Henry and Serena Michaelson. She graduated Thompson High School in 1933 and started teaching in a rural Winnebago County school.
It was during that time she met and married Odell Forslund in June 1938. She and Odell were married over 71 years. Teaching and coaching took them from Rake, to Forest City, to Sioux Falls, South Dakota during World War II and to Buffalo Center. In 1947 the family moved from Buffalo Center to Forest City where she helped Odell operate the Forest City Cleaning Plant for 15 years.
Alice went to work for the Forest City Summit in 1964 in the advertizing department and continued to do so until her retirement in 1980.
Alice had many hobbies to include oil and china painting. She also liked to play bridge and loved to bake.
She is survived by her sister Ruth Wright of Horseshoe, Arkansas, her sons: John (Mary) Forslund of Leavenworth, Kansas and Tom (Barbara) of Casper, Wyoming, her grandchildren: Martha (Randy) Linscott of Kansas City, Missouri, Michelle (Tim) Carter of Olathe, Kansas,Eric Forslund of Addison, Texas, Beth Forslund of Boseman, Montana. Also surviving are five great grandchildren; Hayden, Emma and Maeve Linscott of Kansas City, Missouri; Kara and Keith Carter of Olathe, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her husband Odell, her father and mother, Henry and Serena Michaelson: her brothers: Harold (Irma) Michaelson, Millard (Glayds) Michaelson and Russell(Eunice) Michaelson, and her sister Ester (Sanford)Overlie.
