GARNER - Allan Duane Greiman, 68, of Edgeley, ND, formerly of Garner, died on Thursday, April 3, 2014 surrounded by his beloved family in Fargo, North Dakota.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Saturday, April 5th at Wesley United Methodist Church in Edgeley, ND.
Graveside services will be held 3 P.M., Monday, April 7th at Concord Township Cemetery in Garner with Rev. Brian Lund of Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Garner Veterans Ceremonial Unit.
He was born in Garner, Iowa on June 17, 1945 to Ronald and Leona (Peterson) Greiman. The oldest of five children, he was raised on a farm southwest of Garner and graduated from Garner High School in 1963. Al served in the US Army from 1965 to 1967 as a gunner in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1971 as Corporal E-4. After his service in the Army, he worked for Farmer's Co-Op and also worked briefly for Moorman's Mfg. Co as a sales rep.
In 1976, he moved to Ft. Collins, CO and worked construction. He married Diane Ellingson on January 5, 1985. Together they established G&G Painting, raised Black Angus cattle and ran a custom haying business. In June of 1999, the couple moved to Edgeley, ND, and continued to raise Angus cattle until 2004, when Al retired.
Al was a man of strong faith and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed woodworking, writing poetry and singing gospel music. He was a member of American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife, Diane of Edgeley, ND, his children; daughter, Carla Pierce (Mark Boss), of Cedar Falls, IA, son; Wade Greiman (Crystal) of Ankeny, IA, daughter; Rachel Nelson (Mark) of Falcon, CO and son; Adam Stacey of Alfred, NY. He is loved by his grandchildren; Alicia and Sam Pierce, Sydnee and Lauren Greiman and Brodie Nelson. He leaves behind siblings, Rhonda Schuver of Belmond, IA, Rhoda (Dave) Thompson of Belmond, IA and Todd (Jane) Greiman of Garner, IA as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gary.
