WODEN - Alvina S. Brandt, 90, of Woden passed away peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday (June 8, 2011) at the Titonka Care Center.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M., Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church northeast of Titonka with Pastor Robert Wolfert officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M., Friday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Woden and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
Alvina Sophia Brandt, the daughter of Nicholas and Charlotte (Geisking) Heesch, was born April 7th, 1921 in Titonka. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a graduate of Titonka High School. On April 17th, 1940 she was united in marriage to Irvin Brandt at Good Hope Lutheran Church in Titonka. They made their home on a farm located between Titonka and Woden and farmed for 36 years. They had one daughter, Carmen Marie. Alvina loved to help people and so she received her LPN license and worked at the Blue Earth Nursing Home and Titonka Care Center. She was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Alvina cherished spending time with her family, especially her great grandchildren. Her hobbies included cooking, gardening, jig saw puzzles and circle the word.
Alvina is survived by her daughter, Carmen (Collin) Fjetland of Woden; grandchildren, Coke (Shari) Fjetland of Emmetsburg, Crystal (Chad) Anderson of Mankato, MN and Cory (Stacie) Fjetland of Emmetsburg; seven great-grandchildren, Drew Humphrey, Ashley Fjetland, Alexandra Fjetland, Caleb Fjetland, Sophia Fjetland and Carsen and Conner Fjetland; two brothers, Virgil Heesch of St. Cloud, MN and Buddy (Marilyn) Heesch of Titonka; and several nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Charlotte; husband, Irvin; brother, Melbourne; sister, Wilma; and great granddaughter, Calista, in infancy.
