GARNER – Betty M. Sankey, 70, of Garner died Sunday (September 16, 2007) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Wednesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Garner with Fr. Henry Huber officiating. Burial will be in Concord Township Cemetery in Garner.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M., Tuesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church with a Rosary Society rosary at 4 P.M. and a Scriptural wake service at 7 P.M. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Cataldo Funeral Home in Garner is in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth Marcella Sankey, the daughter of John and Josephine (Aaron) Frank, was born January 31, 1937 at Osage. She attended school at Mason City. She later received her GED from NIACC in Mason City. On September 27, 1958 she was married to Bruce E. Sankey at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mason City. They lived in Garner where they raised their family. Betty was employed as a custodian at the Garner Post Office for 18 years. She also worked at Lynn’s Clothing Store, Tammy’s Pharmacy, Goodnature’s and most recently at Bill’s Family of Foods in Garner. Betty enjoyed collecting dolls, golfing, visiting with people and baking for the residents at Concord Care Center. She loved spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren in their sporting events and car races.

She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Rosary Society, served as a Eucharistic minister and was on the parish council. Betty also belonged to the Garner Wa-Tan-Ye, Homemakers Club and Red Hat Society.

Betty is survived by her husband, Bruce, of Garner; three children, Delbert (Sheri) Sankey of Thompson, Rick (Denise) Sankey of Garner and Becky (Mike) Rollefson of Clear Lake; seven grandchildren, Sara and her son, Blaze, Zach (April) and their daughter, Natalie, Colton, Amber, Dustin, Logan and Spencer; four sisters, Catherine (Ed) Stoner of Atlanta, GA, Ann Peterson of Mason City, Rose (Walter) Portis of Mason City and Margaret Yungclas of Ames; two brothers, Jake (Rosie) Frank of Mason City and Ed Frank of Mason City; a sister-in-law, Claire Frank of Mason City; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, John and Joe Frank.
