Beverly June Krein

Beverly June Lewis Krein, age 88, of Round Rock, TX, formerly of Forest City, died December 8, 2017 at Round Rock Medical Center in Round Rock, Texas.

A Celebration of Life gathering of friends and family will be held 5:00 – 7:00 P.M., Friday, December 15, 2017 at the Cataldo Schott Funeral Chapel, 505 North Clark St., Forest City, IA 50436.

Per her wishes she was cremated, inurnment of her cremains will take place in the summer next to her husband in Madison Township Cemetery in Forest City.

Memorials may be directed to the Hospice of the donor’s choice.

Beverly was born on June 18, 1929 in Richland, Washington and was one of four children. She spent many years of her life in Forest City, Iowa and Round Rock, Texas. She married Ed Krein in 1947 and the two had twelve children together - 6 boys and 6 girls.

Beverly was an understated matriarch - sharp, perseverant, and devoted. Bev’s children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the pride of her life and rightly so. She created an empire of caring, responsible, and family-oriented people and it all started with her. Her features, her humor, and her character are evident in each of them and her spirit will live on through them.

She loved visiting with family, especially with her sister and best friend, Francis. The two always shared a special bond and had a very close relationship. Bev would sit for hours at a kitchen table talking with her family. In her later years, that became more difficult to do but you could always find the enjoyment she still had for those moments because her stunning blue eyes would light up during those times.

Bev also loved to cook and was fantastic at it. While she was a ‘meat and potatoes’ kind of girl, her specialty was candies and treats. For years to come, her family will cherish the recipes she wrote with her elegant hands in her lovely cursive handwriting.

Right up until the end of her life, Beverly was able to take in the sweet moments. She passed peacefully, surrounded by family, and was inspired by the new life waiting for her.

Beverly was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel (Long) Johnson; father, Leslie Lewis; step-father, Leonard Johnson; brother, Earl Lewis; sister, Roszetta Johnson Mark; husband, Ed, and her sons Roger, Johnny, Mike, Terry and grandson, James Lee Fruhwirth.

She is survived by her sister, Francis Krein; her children, Vicki (Clete) Fruhwirth, Rick (Nancy) Krein, Susan Krein, Dave (Gerardette) Krein, Judy (Cliff) Chase, Lauri (David) Camacho, Cherri Payne (Mike Hourigan), Joanie (Kevin) Claxton, and Lisa (Ken) Bass, and by her dozens of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
