FOREST CITY - Cheryl E. Hansen, age 55 of Forest City, died Sunday, December 25, 2011 at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Petersen Lund Funeral Home 505 N Clark Street in Forest City. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday, December 28th at the funeral home.

Burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 30, 2011 at Oakland Cemetery in Denison, Iowa.


Cheryl Elaine Hansen was born on November 21, 1956 in Denison, Iowa, the daughter of LeRoy and Delores (Helms) Hollister. She grew and attended school in Denison where she met John Hansen. A daughter Angel was born to that union. After their marriage ended she met and made a life with Randy Bannister. They began their new life in Forest City with their children Angel, Jaun Paul and Candius. Later they made their home on a farm in Crystal Lake where they were blessed with two more children, Jessica and Brandy. In 1988 Cheryl and Randy purchased the Sportsman's Lounge and Café in Forest City which she owned and operated until her death. Cheryl enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing and even joined a bowling league. She especially liked going to casinos with family and friends and spending precious time with her grandkids.

Those left to cherish her memory include: Angel and husband Scott Spahn; Jaun Paul Bannister, Candius Bannister, Jessica Bannister & special friend Chuck Stuart, Brandy Bannister & special friend Jared Maass. Her grandchildren include Andrew, Alex, Amanda, Jakob, Ashton, Joey, Katelynn, Kylee and Kaleb. Also surviving is her father, LeRoy (Barb) Hollander, her sisters, Barb Anderson, Cindy (Todd) Katzenberger, Carla Bigley and Carmen Hollander, her brother, Dave (Betty) Potter and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Delores Hollander.
