Chris A. Nelson

LELAND - Chris A. Nelson, age 77 of Leland, died Monday, November 23, 2009 at his home in rural Leland.



Funeral service will be at 1:30 PM, Saturday, November 28th at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home in Forest City. Pastor Timothy Miller of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Leland will officiate.



Visitation will be held from noon Saturday November 28 until the time of service.



Inurnment will be a private family graveside service held at Oakland Cemetery.





Chris Allen Nelson was born on June 16th, 1932 on a farm near Forest City, Iowa, the son of Leonard and Anna (Rasmussen) Nelson. He attended Ellington Township School in rural Hancock County and also attended Forest City public school.



He married Donna R. Edgington on June 18th, 1953 at the First Congregational Church in Mason City. He was a lifelong farmer who loved his cows and raising crops. He also enjoyed morning coffee with his many friends.





He is survived by his wife Donna, and children: Christine Hams of Georgetown, MN, James Nelson of Forest City, Donovan (Kerri) Nelson of Atkins, Joan (Neil) Olson of Lakeville, MN, Steven (Julie) Nelson of St. Joseph, MN; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.



His is also survived by three sisters, Helen Boman, Ruth Kruta, Marian Amundson, and an aunt, Ardis Anderson all of Forest City.





He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter-in-law, Joyce Nelson.
