Dale L. Kapping, 76, of Garner passed away Monday, August 16, 2021 at Concord Care Center in Garner.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. 4th St., Garner with Al Berge of Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Rockford, Iowa with military rites by the Iowa Army National Guard Honor Guard.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral chapel on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
Dale Leroy Kapping, the son of Fern Jacobs, was born July 16, 1945 in Charles City. He attended school in Charles City and enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Upon his honorable discharge he returned home to Charles City. On May 19, 1967 he married Alice May Carbee in Wauconda, Illinois. They lived in Charles City and later Rockford where Dale was employed at Cole Sewell/Pella/Larson Manufacturing until his retirement. On June 23, 2005 he married Deb (Ausborn) Johnson in Garner. After retirement Dale enjoyed watching old fashioned TV shows like MASH and the History Channel, but most of all, spending time with his stepchildren and grandchildren. In his younger years he enjoyed riding his Harley and going to the Sturgis Rally.
He attended Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake.
Dale is survived by his wife, Deb Kapping of Garner; two stepchildren, Heather (Josh) Bunkofske of Garner and Neil (Brandie) Johnson of Mason City; grandchildren, Erin Johnson, Shelby Johnson, Brayden Bunkofske, Gabe and Jasmine Pennington and Ty Johnson; a brother-in-law, Kenneth (Bonnie) Ausborn of Garner; a sister-in-law, Jan (Lloyd) Bier of Garner; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Fern; first wife, Alice Kapping; and brother-in-law, Ron Ausborn.
