Darla Kay Boyken

BRITT - Darla K. Boyken, age 47 of Forest City, died Tuesday, April 28, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Forest City.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, April 30, 2010 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Titonka with Pastor Jackie Ziemer offiiciating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday, April 29th at Petersen Lund Funeral Home 505 N Clark St Forest City and an hour prior to service at the church.

Darla Kay Boyken was born in Britt, Iowa on December 18, 1962, the daughter of Roger and Neoma (Johnson) Boyken.

She loved Elmo, western shows and movies. She never went anywhere without her “Ray” bear, Elmo, “Jesus” bear and Elmo blanket.

She loved when Pastor Jackie (whom she called “Jesus Jackie”) would come to play the guitar and sing to her.

Darla is survived by her parents, Roger and Neoma Boyken, her brother, Steven (Leanna) Boyken and her sister, Debra (Bruce) Boyken-Kamp.

Also surviving are several aunts and uncles: Duane Johnson, Susan Johnson, Duane & Shirley Boyken, Dean Boyken and Louise & Virgil Heifner and many several other cousins.

Darla was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Henry & Schwanje (Loischen) Boyken; her maternal grandparents, Harold & Gladys (Ladd) Johnson and a maternal uncle, Dustin Johnson.
