FOREST CITY - David Howard Strickler, age 68 of Forest City, died Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Muse Norris Hospice in Mason City.
As per David's request, his body has been cremated and there are no formal services planned.
David Howard Strickler was born Aug. 20, 1942, to Kenneth and Helen Strickler in Algona. He was the second of three children. He grew up in the Algona area and graduated from Algona High School.
David worked for Pioneer Hy-Bred for a number of years. He was an accomplished artist and spent many years as an Explorer Scoutleader. He also taught art part-time in both the Catholic and Algona grade schools. He also taught CCD classes for St. Cecelias.
He could be found quite often at Smith Lake Park, where he enjoyed drawing the landscape and wildlife there. He was also a photographer.
David enjoyed watching movies and listening to KRIB 50s and 60s music and Polka music on KNUJ.
He loved spending time with his daughter, Beth Ann Ricke-Strickler. She was everything to him.
He fought cancer for many years with a cheerful heart. He died at the hospice center in Mason City on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011. He will be greatly missed by his survivors, daughter Beth Ann, and sisters Avis Lakin of Gilmore City and Irene Ricke of Algona.
