GARNER - David R. Waddingham, 75, of Garner died Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, July 6th at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garner with Revs. Scott Kozisek and Mark Lavrenz officiating. Burial will be in Concord Township Cemetery in Garner.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M., Friday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. 4th St., Garner and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

David Ralph Waddingham, the son of John and Reva (Elder) Waddingham, was born April 30, 1938 in Hampton. He graduated from Klemme High School in 1956. On August 23, 1959 he married Marie Meyer at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garner. They lived in Garner where Dave worked as the sexton for Concord Township Cemetery for forty years and remained involved when his son, Mark, took over the position. Dave also owned and operated Waddingham Construction in Garner and served as a bus driver in his younger years for the Garner-Hayfield Community School District. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was proud to have accomplished 31 years of sobriety by living "One Day at a Time".

He served on the Garner Volunteer Fire Department for thirty-four years and the Garner-Hayfield School Board.

Dave is survived by his wife, Marie, of Garner; four children, Shelley Witting of Garner, Sheila (Keith) Sperr of Garner, Sherry (Michael) Loftus of Charles City and Mark (Liz) Waddingham of Garner; eight grandchildren, Sarah and Molly Sperr, Ryan, Nolan and Nicole Loftus and Megan, Brooke and Ben Waddingham; four brothers, Bill (Rosalie) Waddingham of Garner, Tom Waddingham of Thornton, Bruce (Cheryl) Waddingham of Rutherfordton, NC and Ray Waddingham of Garner; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Rick Witting; sister, Ellen Sobek; brother-in-law, Roger Sobek and sister-in-law, Janice Waddingham.
