Dawn Harrington

WODEN - Dawn Harrington, 53, of Woden died Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family.

Memorial services will be held 1 P.M., Saturday, April 21st at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with Pastor Rod Hopp officiating.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M., Friday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 310 Main St., in Woden and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Dawn Louise Harrington, the daughter of Lloyd and Lanida (Meyer) Willig, was born April 27, 1958 at Mason City. She graduated from Forest City High School in 1976 and Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business in 1980. After her graduation, Dawn owned and operated Apostales restaurant in Orange City. On September 4, 1982 she was married to Paul Harrington at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Buffalo Center. They farmed near Woden and in 1988 made their home east of Woden and raised their three children. She was an avid Cyclone fan, skier, ball player, and she loved to golf, being fourteen time club champion at the Barn/Gruis. Dawn was active in the Woden-Crystal Lake community, serving on various boards and coaching girls sports. She loved to be with her family, to farm, and to work in her gardens.

Dawn is survived by her husband, Paul, of Woden; three children, Katherine Harrington of Ames, Elaine Harrington of Davenport and Steven Harrington of Algona; a sister, Dana (Mark) Wilkinson of Bettendorf; her step-mother, Elsie Willig of Forest City; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lanida in 1980; father, Lloyd in 2010; and a nephew, Jared Wilkinson in 1981.
