FOREST CITY – Dean E. Bauer, 50, of Forest City, formerly of Garner, died Friday, June 12, 2015 at the Westview Care Center in Britt.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M., Tuesday, June16th at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garner with Rev. Scott Kozisek officiating. Burial will be in Concord Township Cemetery in Garner.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M., Monday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. 4th St., in Garner and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
Memorials may be directed to the Dean Bauer Memorial Fund.
Dean Ewald Bauer, the son of Ewald “Pete” and Lois (Pigman) Bauer, was born September 26, 1964 in Waterloo. He lived in Tripoli with his family until 1967 when they moved to Garner. Dean was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended school at Happy ARC in Garner and in 1981 moved to North Central Human Services in Forest City. Dean received a Certificate of Graduation for Secondary Education from North Central Human Services in 1986. He worked various jobs in the Forest City area including stocking shelves at Goldy’s Convenience Store in Forest City. He enjoyed watching the Price Is Right, reading books and participating in the Special Olympics.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garner.
Dean is survived by his siblings, Hal (Cindy) Bauer of Kanawha, Janelle Smith (Lee White) of Garner, Connie Bauer of Garner, Dallas Bauer of Garner and Mark Bauer of Garner; a sister-in-law, Julie Beers of Crystal Lake; many nieces and nephews; and his family at Mosaic in Forest City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Duane Pigman; and brother-in-law, Mark Schwem.
