FOREST CITY - Diana L. Wilson, age 84 of Forest City, died Saturday, November 13, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Forest City.
Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Forest City with Pastor Doug Snyder officiating. Inurnment will be at Oakland Cemetery in Forest City. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 PM on Monday, November 15, 2010, at Petersen Lund Funeral Home 505 N Clark St in Forest City.
Diana L. Wilson was born in Mt. Vernon, Illinois on October 20, 1926, the daughter of Roy and Jenny (Wagner) Mills. She received her elementary education in Webster City, Iowa and graduated from Webster City High School in 1944. She furthered her studies at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, graduating in 1948 with a BS Degree in Education.
On June 5, 1949, she was united in marriage to H.R. (Ray) Wilson in Webster City. The couple made their home in California while Ray completed his classwork at Long Beach City College. They also resided in Des Moines, IA and Chicago, Ill. In 1955, they moved to Forest City where Dr. Wilson began his optometry practice.
Diana was a kindergarten teacher. She taught in Webster City, Des Moines, Hammond, Ill, Lake Mills. In Forest City she taught Remedial Reading at home. For 16 years, she worked at "Wally's Furniture" in Forest City.
Diana was a member of the Womens Optometric Association, serving four years as secretary/treasurer. She was president of the Women's Auxiliary for two years and a member of the "Order of the Eastern Star". She was a long time member of the United Methodist Church in Forest City where she taught Bible school and Sunday school before retiring to Clear Lake in 1992 and transferring her membership to the Clear Lake United Methodist Church.
Diana is survived by her children: Kristine (Riley) Lewis of Forest City; Marsha (Robin) Wood of Forest Lake, MN; Mark (Barbara) Wilson of Battlefield, MO. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Todd (April) Lewis, Karey (Robert) Alvarado, , Sara Adkins, Matthew Wilson and Michael Wilson; three great-grandchildren: Noah & Elle Lewis and Jordan Alvarado; a sister, Cornelia Lukehart of Sioux City, IA and several wonderful nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. H.R. (Ray) Wilson,her parents, her brother Guy Mills and brother-in-law, Joe Lukehart.
