 Diane Lynn Schmidt, 65, of Garner, passed away unexpectedly Friday, April 21, 2023.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 29, 2023, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Garner with Rev. Fr. Ben Valentine officiating. Burial will be at Concord Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, April 28th at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Garner with a Scriptural wake service at 4:30 p.m. Visitation will resume one hour prior to services at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Garner-God’s Pantry or the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation Research (jdrf.org) in her memory.

Diane was born on June 26, 1957, to Marilyn (Leegaard) Schnoor and Laverne Farris in Albert Lea, MN.  She graduated from Garner-Hayfield High School in 1976 and continued her education at Capri Cosmetology School in Mason City. On April 28, 1979, she was married to the love of her life, Jeffery Schmidt at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Garner. They made their home in Garner where they raised their children Justin and Amber. Diane loved her family so fiercely and adored her children and two grandchildren more than anything. She loved traveling to see her children and grandchildren; she especially loved when her family was all together.  Diane and Jeff enjoyed fishing together with their dog Presley, especially at Lake Kabetogama.  She had a long career owning her own business as a hairdresser and enjoyed visiting with her clients.  Collecting Elvis Presley memorabilia, taking photos and reading books were a few of her favorite hobbies.

She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Homemakers Club and was a past member of Garner Jayceettes.

Diane is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Jeff; her two children, Justin (Nathalie) Schmidt of West Palm Beach, FL and Amber (Chad) Vittorio of Angola, LA; her two precious grandchildren, Carson and Corinne Vittorio; her father, Laverne Farris of Clear Lake; stepfather, Delmar Schnoor of Albert Lea, MN; father-in-law, George Schmidt of Garner; siblings,  Donna (Randy) Saltou of Glenville, MN, Mike (Malissa) Schnoor of Houston, TX, Barb (Bob) Parker of Aurora, CO, Dawn (Melvin) Nedved of Britt, Lori (Jim) Winter of Mankato, MN, Nikki Flugum of Forest City, Kelly McDonough of Ventura and Sonny (Connie) Farris of Ventura; brothers and sisters-in-law, Cheryl Farris of Garner, Tom (Pat) Schmidt of Garner, Russ (Tammy) Schmidt of Garner, Kathy (Ray) Tlach of Britt, Lisa (Clay) Cummings of Tucson, AZ and Sandy (Greg) Rayhons of Garner; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Marilyn Schnoor; stepmother, Dotti Farris; her mother-in-law Arlene Schmidt; and brother, Daniel Farris.
