FOREST CITY - Doris Weaver, age 73 of Forest City, died Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Forest City.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, December 21st at Petersen Lund Funeral Home 505 N Clark St in Forest City. Inurnment will be at Clear Lake Cemetery in Clear Lake.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM, Tuesday at Petersen Lund Funeral Home.
Doris Darlene Weaver was born in Thompson, Iowa on March 3, 1938, the daughter of George and Clara (Osheim) Rossiter. She received her education in Thompson and graduated from Thompson High School in 1957. She was united in marriage to Dennis Weaver in 1958. The couple made their home in Forest City for a time where she worked at the Riverside Cafe. They moved to Lake Mills where she worked at Deluxe Manufacturing. The couple lived in Clear Lake from 1966-1991 where she worked at the Clear Lake Bakery. When the couple returned to Forest City, Doris worked at North Central Human Services, a position she held for 16 years. She loved garage sales and from 2000-2006 she and her daughter always had one going in her own garage. She treasured time spent with her grandsons and always looked forward to coffee time with family and friends. She enjoyed flowers and gardening, country music and she loved to dance. Doris and her husband spent several winters in Texas. Failing health forced her to move into the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City in 2009.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Lora Meier of Forest City;two grandsons, Devin and Jordan; brothers Marvin, Carroll and Dennis; sister Kathy; and several nieces and nephews and many close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dennis; and son-in-law, John Craighton.
