Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Buffalo Center, IA

Duane was born in Buffalo Center, IA, the eldest son of Duane Gossman Sr. and Lila Arndt. The family were sharecroppers in Thompson at the time and Bud spent his first 18 years on the farm. Three sisters and a brother would follow him.

He started out life experiencing its hardships early on, he had a pyloric obstruction at birth and required surgery at 6 weeks weighing less than his birth weight. Later Bud will develop asthma which he had difficulty with his whole life. Bud attended school at Thompson Community School and despite his asthma, was able to participate in Track.

After HS he did a brief seasonal job at Green Giant in Blue Earth and then went to work at Winnebago Industries were he remained for the rest of his time. He was employee #26 at the time of his death. Bud married Sandy Christensen early on and they had a daughter Dawn. After their divorce Bud met and married Deborah Haverly and to this marriage were born his daughters Brianne and Morgan. This ended in divorce and Bud remained out on the acreage SW of Forest City.

Bud seemed to take on life head on, but remained the peacemaker. His heart was as big as they come, Bud chose to wear his just above his waist. He was the person who would get the call that someone was stuck along the road, or they needed help moving, or they wanted help. Bud always responded and never let people down. His life was littered with hardships that would knock the normal person down, but his sediment runs deep and he was known for keeping most everything to remind him of the good times of his life. In later years he would start suffering from a series of illnesses that eventually contributed to his untimely death.

He leaves behind his three daughters, Dawn (John) Bodenham of Mt. Pleasant, IA; Brianne Gossman of Eagen, MN and Morgan Gossman of Forest City; his parents, Duane K. Gossman Sr of Thompson, IA and Lila Gossman of Buffalo Center, IA; three sisters Bridget Neilon (Jerry Hanson) of Northwood, IA; Diane Penning of Alden, MN; Linda (Mark) Kemmerer of Clear Lake, IA; a brother, Kent (Karana) Gossman of Renton, WA and two grandchildren, Adam and Aaron and many, many friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and a nephew, Jarrett Roberts.

He will be sadly missed by all.
