Elida A. Tapper, 96, of Fort Dodge, formerly of Forest City, died Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the Fort Dodge Villa Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the Cataldo Schott Funeral Chapel, 505 North Clark St. Forest City, IA 50436 with Pastor Rod Hopp of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Elida Tapper memorial fund in care of the family.
Elida Amanda Tapper was born April 19th, 1920 in Big Lake, Minnesota, the daughter of Adolph and Anna (Zielske) Friest. She married Herman Tapper on June 1, 1941 in Blue Earth, Minnesota. Elida worked at Winnebago Industries for many years as a seamstress. She also enjoyed taking care of her home and her family. Elida was an avid gardener and could grow anything, she enjoyed all aspects of crafts, she enjoyed crocheting and making quilts, giving many of those quilts to her family. In her retirement years, Herman and Elida traveled the country delivering Winnebago R.V.’s for many years, which they enjoyed. Elida loved her family and the time she spent with them and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Elida is survived by her son-in-law, Galen O’Connor of Fort Dodge, IA; son, Michael (Diana) Tapper of Appleton, WI; grandchildren, Rhiannon Roberts of Fort Dodge, IA, Benjamin Vrieze of Fort Dodge, IA, Shannon Beneke of Appleton, WI, Ashley Tapper of Wittenberg, WI, Nathan Waupekenay of Appleton, WI and James Waupekenay of Wittenberg, WI; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman Tapper; children, infant stillborn son, Jeffrey Tapper, and Beverly (Tapper) O’Connor; siblings, Marshall Friest, Anna (Friest) Elliott, Thelma (Friest) Higgins, Adolph Friest, Lowell Friest and Louise Melz.
