Frances T. Hallett, 95 of Forest City died peacefully Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Miller, Iowa, physical address, 1985 290th St., Garner, IA 50438 with Lay Minister Rose Visser officiating.
Visitation will be held 4:00 – 6:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Cataldo Schott Funeral Chapel, 505 North Clark St. Forest City, IA.
Burial will take place in Madison Township Cemetery in Forest City, Iowa.
Memorials may be directed to the Frances Hallett memorial fund in care of the family.
Frances Thelma Hallett was born February 23, 1922 in Vinje, Iowa the daughter of Theodore and Freda (Amundson) Haugland. She attended and graduated from Crystal Lake Schools in 1940. She also attended Cosmetology School in Mason City. She was married to Stanley Hallett on April 15, 1943 in Omaha, Nebraska, to this union three children were born, Carolyn, Wray and Harvey.
Stanley and Frances farmed in Miller, Iowa before moving to a farm south of Forest City in 1968, then moving to Crystal Lake to be close to family in 1996.
Fran enjoyed knitting, gardening, baking and loved visiting over a cup of coffee. She loved the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She especially loved wintering in Mission, Texas, something her husband, Stanley and she did for many years.
She was a long-time member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Miller where she was a leader in the lefse making process for the annual fall bizarre. For the last two years Frances enjoyed being a resident of Forest Plaza Assisted Living and loved the companionship of the residents and wonderful staff. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children, Carolyn Nedved and husband Cletus of Fertile and Wray Hallett and wife Thresea of Forest City; grandchildren, Greg Nedved of Crystal Lake, Heather Hallett, Kendra Hallett both of Tyler, TX, Curtis (Jessica) Hallett of Charles City, Casey (Amber) Hallett of Plymouth, MN, David (Elizabeth) Hallett of Waterloo, IA; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; brothers, Marvin (Jan) Haugland of Crystal Lake, Bobbie (Barb) Haugland of Garner; sister, Barb (Jim) Larson of Crystal Lake and many nieces and nephews.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stanley Hallett; son, Harvey Hallett; siblings, Marie Hanson Iverson, Sally Peterson and Frank Haugland.
