Grace M. Ploeger, 94, of Garner died Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Cardinal Grove Assisted Living in Garner.

Funeral services will be held 1 P.M., Wednesday, May 30th at Peace Reformed Church south of Garner with Rev. Mark Larson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 P.M., Tuesday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. 4th St., in Garner and will resume one hour prior to services at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Peace Reformed Church.

Grace Margaret Ploeger, the daughter of Rev. David and Anna Marie (Stucki) Grether, was born September 21, 1923 in Neillsville, WI. She was baptized on Nov. 11, 1923 by her grandfather, the Rev. Jacob Stucki at Neillsville and confirmed on March 21, 1937 at Salem Reformed Church, Magley, IN by her father, the Rev. David Grether. Grace received her elementary education at Magley School and graduated from Decatur High School in Indiana in 1941. She attended Ball State Teachers College and Milwaukee State Teacher’s College where she received her B.S. degree in Art Education in 1945. Grace attended summer sessions at Carnbrook Academy of Art, the University of Wisconsin – Madison and Ball State Teacher’s College. She taught at Marshfield, WI from 1945-1946 and at Berea College, Berea, KY from 1946 to 1950. On June 18, 1950 she was married to Rev. Chester Ploeger at Salem-Ebenezer Reformed Church in Manitowoc, WI by the Rev. K.J. Stuebbe. Her husband served the following pastorates: Logan Reformed Church in Dell Rapids, SD, Peace Reformed Church in Garner from 1952 to 1965, Zion Reformed Church in Menno, SD from 1965 to 1970, Peace Reformed Church in Manitowoc, WI from 1973 to 1976, Grace Reformed Church in Bakersfield, CA from 1976 to 1983, Peace Reformed Church in Loveland, CO from 1983 to 1985 and Eureka Reformed Church in Eureka, SD from 1985 to 1990. In 1990, they retired and moved back to Garner. After Chester passed away in 2011, Grace continued to live in Garner at Cardinal Grove Assisted Living.

Grace is survived by her sister, Ruth Gress; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Grether; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chester; two brothers, Rev. Jack (Marie) Grether and Frank Grether; and sister, Marie (Rev. Calvin) Stuebbe.
