FOREST CITY - Helen M. Hanson, age 94 of Forest City, died Sunday, May 11, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Forest City.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, May 14 at 10:30 AM at Petersen Lund Funeral Home in Forest City. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday, May 13 at the funeral home and an hour prior to service.
Burial will be at Madison Township Cemetery in rural Forest City.
Helen M. Hanson, the daughter of Will and Charlotte (Davis) Grogan, was born on May 21, 1913 in Sanborn, Iowa. She received her education in Sanborn.
On June 19, 1943 she was married to Milton O. Hanson in South Dakota. The couple farmed east of Miller until retiring in 1972. Helen raised chickens and sold eggs. For nearly ten years, she operated a consignment shop from her home called ìBrighter Day.î
Helen was a member of Faith Lutheran in Miller, Iowa and was Past President of Ladies Aid there. Helen and Milton continued to live on the farm until moving to Forest City in 1991. They enjoyed traveling and spending their winters in Texas.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Gaylene Bosma of Forest City; four grandchildren, Tara (Edgar) Baxton of Ft. Dodge; Cheryl (Steve) Tripp of Algona; Shelley Armstrong of Ellsworth and William Armstrong of Altoona; six great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a brother, William Grogan and wife Ione of Sanborn, Iowa, a sister Frances Diebner of Mountain Home, Arkansas and many nieces and nephews.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Milton, a daughter Rita, a son George, sister Evelyn and brother Jim.
