Ila Johnson

Ila Johnson, 89, an amazing mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend passed away peacefully Jan. 3, 2015 with her loving family by her side on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN. Upon her wishes she was cremated and a gathering of friends and family will be held Friday, February 6, 2015 from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M.at Cataldo Schott Funeral Chapel, 505 North Clark St. Forest City. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Ila.

Ila (Storey) Johnson was born January 9, 1925 to Harry & Mary Peterson in Dysart, Iowa. She married Harold Edmondson and had 5 children; Dan (Carol) Edmondson, Steve (Linda) Edmondson, Tim Edmondson, Sue Edmondson & Janet (Dave) Snyder. Harold passed away in 1957, and years later Ila married John Johnson and had 2 sons, Jay Johnson and Don (Lisa) Johnson.

Ila worked hard for many years to provide for her children. She waitressed at the Bungalow Café & worked in the Lab & X-ray Department at the Forest City Hospital until her retirement. She attended all the sports & music activities her children were involved in and was a chauffeur for many other children besides her own to make sure nobody was left out.

Some of Ila’s favorite pastimes were working crosswords puzzles, playing cribbage, watching any NBA game & cheering on the Hawkeyes. But mostly, she loved hanging out and eating meals with her family as they were all very special to her!

Ila had a lot of compassion & a heart of gold. Words cannot express how deeply she will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Harold and John and son Tim.
