FOREST CITY -- Jeanette R. Heesch, age 84 of Forest City, died Tuesday, February 6, 2007, at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa. Funeral service will be Friday, February 9 at 10:30 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with Pastor Barb Spaulding officiating. Burial will be at Good Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Titonka, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Thursday, February 8 at the funeral home and an hour prior to service at the church.
Jeanette Rosella (Swalve) Heesch was born on May 7, 1922, near Thompson, Iowa, the daughter of Arend and Sena (Kort) Swalve. She was baptized and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She graduated with honors from Thompson High School in 1940.
On October 13, 1941, she married Virgil Heesch at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple farmed until 1981 when they moved to Forest City, Iowa.
Jeanette was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was active in women's circle meetings, serving in various offices, leading Bible studies and played the piano when needed. Prior to her membership at Immanuel, she was an active member of Good Hope Lutheran Church in Titonka, Iowa where she was also active in the church women's organization and held various offices. Her faith was an important part of her life and she shared that with her family and friends.
Jeanette enjoyed road trips with Virgil, family visits, reading and music - especially hymns. She died Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at Muse Norris Hospice in Mason City at the age of 84 years.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Virgil Heesch of Forest City, Iowa and three children: Roslyn and husband Herb Harms of Plymouth, Minnesota; Paul and his wife Marlene of Eagan, Minnesota: Sheryl and her husband Duane Sheldahl of Willmar, Minnesota. Also, six grandchildren: Kendra and husband Rod Knutdtson of Marseilles, Illinois; Tammy Tracey of Manassas, Virginia; Jeff Harms and Jessica Smith of Bloomington, Minnesota; Janelle and husband Tim Kasparek of St. Cloud, Minnesota; Michael Sheldahl of Hugo, Minnesota; Shayla and husband Jonathan Mellema of Willmar, Minnesota; 11 great-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandson; a brother Gerald Swalve and wife Patty of Maumelle, Arkansas and a sister-in-law, Jean Swalve of Swea City, Iowa.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Arnold.
