Jerry L. Lunning Sr.

Jerry L. Lunning Sr., 78, of Forest City, died Thursday, February 22, 2018 at the Hancock Memorial Hospital in Britt, Iowa

Graveside services will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Madison Township Cemetery in Forest City, Iowa.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Monday, February 26, 2017 at the Cataldo Schott Funeral Chapel, 505 North Clark St. Forest City, Iowa 50436.

Burial will be held in Madison Township Cemetery in Forest City, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Jerry L. Lunning memorial fund in care of the family.

Jerry L. Lunning was born September 30, 1939 in Clarion, Iowa, the son of Virgil L. and Anola (Helland) Lunning. He was married to Mona Johnson on June 13, 1970 in Clear Lake, Iowa, to this union two sons, Jerry Jr. and Virgil Roy Lunning were born.

Jerry enjoyed spending time outside, farming, building things, fishing, gatherings with neighbors and friends and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren whom he loved giving wheelchair rides. Jerry also liked listening to country music and watching John Wayne western movies. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his sons, Jerry Lunning Jr. and Virgil Roy (Shea) Lunning all of Forest City; children from previous marriage, Rick (Cindy) Kofron, Christy (Chuck) Smoley, Lori (Deb) Kofron and Darin Kofron; grandchildren, Kelly Ranae Munroe (Larissa), Juliet Sorteberg, Elsa JoDel, Trinity Faith, Tristan Wayne Lunning and Mandi, Amy Kofron and Tanner Smoley; siblings, Verdell Lunning, Roger Lunning, Darrell (Wanda) Lunning, Denise (Doug) Rogers and Deb (Scott) Loge and many nieces and nephews.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mona in August of 2017 and brother, Lynn Lunning.
