Joan Mary Destival

FOREST CITY - Joan M. Destival, age 70 of Forest City, died Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Petersen Lund Funeral Home 505 N Clark St in Forest City with Fr. Kenneth B. Gehling, Chaplain with Hospice of North Iowa, officiating.

Burial will be at St. James Catholic Cemetery in Forest City. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday, July 20th at the funeral home and will continue an hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Joan M. Destival was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 15, 1940, the daughter of Washington and Isabel (Burdett) Barrow. She was united in marriage to Dennis Destival on September 12, 1959 in Chicago.

The couple worked for the Union Pacific railroad in Chicago before moving to Forest City in 1984. Joan worked many years for Winnebago Industries in Forest City, retiring in 1999.

Joan is survived by two sons, Dennis Destival and Jim Destival; four daughters, Denise (Jeff) Bredeson, Jenny (Dennis) Richards, Jodi (Howard) Abbott, and Deanne (Jerry) Greer.

Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two brothers, Frank Andreasen and Jack Andreasen and three sisters, Carol Page, Mary Edelman and Eleanor Doyle.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dennis in 1998, her twin sister and a great-granddaughter.
