Joyce Maxine Anderson

BRITT - Joyce M. Anderson, 85, of Britt died Thursday (October 6, 2011) at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Monday, October 10th at the United Methodist Church in Britt with Rev. Robert Dodge officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M., Sunday at the Cataldo Funeral Home in Britt and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Joyce Maxine Anderson, the daughter of John and Grace (Price) Palmer, was born January 21, 1926 on a farm near Renwick, Iowa. At any early age she moved with her family to Britt and attended Britt Community Schools. On September 4, 1941 she was married to Robert W. Anderson in Bethany, Missouri. They farmed south of Britt until 1990 when they retired and moved into town. Joyce and Bob enjoyed wintering at Ft. Dade Mobile Home Park in Florida for many years.

Joyce was an active member of the Britt United Methodist Church and UWM. She belonged to several clubs in town including the Three G Club, Birthday Club and a card club. She also was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and Royal Neighbors of America.

She is survived by her husband, Bob, of Britt; four children, Gary (Sally) Anderson of Mason City, Greg (Leaann) Anderson of Clarion, Gerald (Jodi) Anderson of Britt and Gayle Fox of Elk River, MN; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; a sister, Genevieve Poulos of Mason City; a brother, Keith (Ruth) Palmer of Sac City; and many nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Judy; a sister, Virginia O'Brien; and a brother, Roy Palmer.
