June, the daughter of Walter and Beatrice (Newland) Thompson was born June 27, 1915 in Forest City. She was the second born in her family of six.
June graduated from Forest City High School in 1934 and worked at the Forest City Produce before marrying Almer Tweed on September 24, 1939. They lived on the Tweed farm between Fertile and Joice for all their married life. Almer and June enjoyed working together as they farmed and raised their three daughters, Beverly, Marlys and Linda. After Almer passed away in September of 1981, June moved into Town square Apartments in Forest City where she lived for 27 years. In 2008, she decided she wanted to move to Westview Care Center in Britt, where she has been loved and cared for until her death.
June always enjoyed life!! Her grandchildren loved listening to Grandma Tweed and they all enjoyed the best fried chicken, homemade bread and all other good things that Grandma is remembered for. She loved flowers, gardening, baking, cooking, sewing, volunteering, entertaining guests, helping others, playing games etc., but her greatest delight was her Lord and her family. She trusted Jesus Christ as her Savior while in the third grade and joyfully lived her life serving him.
June is survived by her daughters, Beverly McNeese and her husband, Gale, Marlys Murray and Linda Tweed; grandchildren, Cherlyn (Rick) Johnson, Greg (Chris) McNeese, Brent (Kim) McNeese, Darren (Jackie) Murray, Kendra Madrid, Brian (Heidi) Murray; great-grandchildren, Jennifer (Ethan) Cheville, Josh (Mary Jo) Johnson, Joylyn (Matt) Ites, Amber (Zach) Nielsen, Nicholas (Paige) McNeese, Hannah (Tyler) Harmon, Hunter (Maria) McNeese, Ethan (Chloe) McNeese, Ashleigh (Layne) Mosher, Colt McNeese, Amren , Amesha and Jason Murray, Daviana and Raina Madrid, Isabella, Adelaide and Breana Murray; fourteen great great-grandchildren, Olivia, Charlotte, Addison, Cheyenne, Teagen, Eum, Rosaleigh, Sawyer, Naomi, Wyatt, Henry, Orin, Kingsley and Harper and three more expected this year.
