Leola F. Lunning, age 63 of Forest City, died Friday, August 11, 2006 at her home in Forest City. Visitation will be held Monday, August 14 from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home. No formal church services are being planned at this time. Burial will be at a later date at Madison Township Cemetery in Forest City.
Leola F. Lunning was born in Belmond, Iowa on August 20, 1942, the daughter of Frances and Opal (Lein) Mason. She attended school in Belmond and graduated from Belmond High School.
On June 10, she married Verdell Lunning at Calvary Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake, Iowa. The couple lived for a brief time in Waldorf, Minnesota before making their home in Forest City.
Leola worked for 29 years in the Forest City School system, the last several years as Secretary to the Superintendent. She retired in 2001.
Verdell & Leola enjoyed traveling and spent a couple winters in Corpus Christi, Texas. Leola like to sew and quilt and enjoyed her regular bridge club.
She died at her home in Forest City on Friday, August 11, 2006 at the age of 63 years. She is survived by her husband, Verdell Lunning and three sons, all of Forest City: Steven (Jackie) Lunning and Chad, Adam & Matt; Scott Lunning and Brian, Nicole & Mitch; Kevin (Lisa) Lunning and Kelsey. Also surviving are three siblings: Marilyn (Terry) Halloran of Mason City; Wayne (Mary Ellen) Mason of Goodell and Annette Boelman of Goodell and many nieces and nephews.
Leola was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Justin, a brother Walter and sister Wanda.
