Lois E. Hanna, 96, of Woden, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M., Monday, June 24, 2019 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Woden with Rev. S. Kim Peterson officiating. Following the service her body will be cremated. Inurnment will be held 11 A.M., Thursday, June 27th at Grant Cemetery near Woden.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 P.M., Sunday at Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 310 Main St., Woden and will resume one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Memorials may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Lois Eileen Hanna, the daughter of William and Ethel (Hammond) Wood, was born November 5, 1922 on a farm near Woden. She grew up in Woden and graduated from Woden High School in 1940. On June 15, 1940 she was married to Alvin Hanna in Mason City. They lived on a farm near Woden where they raised their family. In 2006, Lois moved into Woden and in 2016 to the Summit House in Britt. She enjoyed golfing and spending time with family, friends and especially, her grandchildren. Lois and Alvin spent 20 years wintering in Mission, Texas with friends. Lois always put Alvin’s best interests first and did the best she could for her children.

She was confirmed and became a member of Grant Lutheran Church in 1944 where she taught Sunday school and Bible school for many years. She was also the church’s treasurer for 14 years and a member of WELCA. After the church closed, she joined St. John’s Lutheran Church in Woden.

Lois is survived by her son, Ron (Arlis) Hanna of Albert Lea, MN; daughter, Vicki (Robert) Grant of Latimer; five grandchildren, Penny Hanna, Scott (Stacey) Hanna, Tracy (Aymee) Hanna, Gail Castillo and Donald (Wendy) Grant; 12 great grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter; siblings, Lola Wittmeier of Fort Dodge, Larry (Betty) Wood of Woden, LaDonna (Don) Gigler of Columbia, MO and Linda (Ken) DeWaard of Britt; two sisters-in-law, Hazel Wood of Garner and Faith Wood of Minneapolis, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin; and siblings, Lorraine Naser, Leona Chestnut, Donald Wood, Eugene Wood, William A. Wood, Richard Wood and LaVonne Isebrand.
