Lyle Herman Doege, the son of Herbert and Anna (Boelts) Doege, was born on October 8, 1933. He graduated from Woden High School in 1951 and continued his education at Waldorf College where he played baseball. After college, he served in the US Navy for two years being stationed in Guam. On August 18, 1962, he married Janice Hobbs at the Crystal Lake United Methodist Church. To this union, a son, Jason Kay Doege was born. Lyle owned and operated Doege Garage in Woden until his retirement in 2020. Lyle and Janice enjoyed many things during their 62 years of marriage, including traveling to different countries to visit their foreign exchange students. Lyle enjoyed golfing, fishing, and drinking coffee with family and friends. He especially loved spending time with his grandsons, Brett and Cody, and attending their sporting events. His grandsons have fond memories of Grandpa teaching them how to golf, drive, work on vehicles and spending time in his backyard playing baseball when they were younger. He was a religious man and a long-time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Lyle is survived by his wife, Janice of Woden; son, Jason (Shannon) Doege of Buffalo Center; two grandsons, Brett and Cody Doege; brother-in-law, James Hobbs of Crystal Lake; nieces, nephews, cousins, and six foreign exchange kids and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Anna Doege; parents-in-law, Earl and Alvina Hobbs; a sister, Lilah Hobbs; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Krominga, Marge Hobbs, and Jerry Hobbs; and brothers-in-law, Raymond and Clyde Hobbs.
