WODEN – Marilyn R. TerBeek, 85, of Woden died Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Westview Care Center in Britt.
Funeral services will be held 10 A.M., Saturday, September 30, 2017 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan with Fr. Jim Dubert officiating. Burial will be 11:30 A.M., Saturday, September 30th at Bingham Township Cemetery in Woden followed by a luncheon at the Woden Community Center.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5 to 7 P.M., Friday, September 29th at the Woden Community Center. Cataldo Funeral Home of Woden is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa.
Marilyn Rose TerBeek, the daughter of Frank and Emma (Falada) Zrostlik, was born September 2, 1932, on a farm south of Duncan. She attended school at Britt where she graduated from high school in 1950. After high school, she worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Garner. On April 3, 1956, she was married to Harold Samuel TerBeek at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan. They lived in Britt until 1959 when they moved to Woden. In 1965, they established Harold’s Tire Service in Woden which they operated together for many years. After Harold passed away in 1989, she continued to operate the business with her son, Paul. In 2014, she moved to Summit House in Britt. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, her family and especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed attending craft shows, traveling and attending dances at Duncan Hall and the Surf. She was well known in her community and a good friend to many.
She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Britt and Catholic Workman FCSLA W51.
Marilyn is survived by her four sons, Dr. Samuel (Tammy) TerBeek of Knoxville, IL, Mark TerBeek of Des Moines, John (Laura) TerBeek of Ormond Beach, FL and Paul (Kathy) TerBeek of Woden; three grandchildren, Adam TerBeek, Kayla TerBeek and Jaden TerBeek; two great grandchildren, Grace TerBeek and Harper TerBeek; a brother, Tom (Louise) Zrostlik of Britt; a sister-in-law, Barbara (Maynard) Beyer of Clear Lake; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; and brothers, Jerry and Francis Zrostlik.
