Marlene La Renza Rae Bushman

Marlene La Renza Rae Bushman, 82, of Crystal Lake, died on the morning of Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Memorial services will be held 10:30 A.M., Monday, September 18, 2017 at the Crystal Lake United Methodist Church, 215 S. Summit Ave., with Pastor Les Green officiating.

A gathering of friends and family will be held from 4:00 -6:00 P.M., Sunday, September 17, 2017 at the church in Crystal Lake.

Inurnment of cremains will be held at the Crystal Lake Township Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials may be directed to the Crystal Lake United Methodist Church in her name.

Marlene Bushman was born to Maynard and Marion (Davis) Powers on February 26, 1935 in Wadena, Iowa. She was married to James Bushman on September 4, 1964, to this union, two daughters, Lesley and Molly were born.

Marlene enjoyed years of employment at Meredith Burda (RR Donnally) and decorating cakes. She was a longtime member of ICES and was involved in many weddings, graduations, birthday celebrations and many other special events.

She also spent countless hours volunteering at church, serving in many different ways. She was selfless in all areas of her life and showed everyone love and what true Christianity should look like. As a mother, she was a great role model for her daughters and she loved spending time with her grandsons.

Marlene is survived by her husband, Jim Bushman of Crystal Lake, daughter, Lesley (Ted) Schmitz of Pleasant Hill; grandsons, Robby and Caleb Schmitz; siblings, Jack (Wanda) Powers of Garner and Karen (Marlen) Hanson of Forest City and a host of other loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Reba and daughter, Molly Lynne Bushman.
