FOREST CITY - Marlin H. Mayland, age 73 of Forest City, died Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at his home in Forest City.
Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 11, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Forest City. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday, February 10, 2011 also at the First Baptist Church in Forest City.
Private family inurnment service will be held in the spring.
On November 9, 1937, Marlin was the first born to Henry and Clara (Giesking) Mayland on the family farm in Kossuth County. He graduated from Titonka School in 1955 and married Norma Jean (Stauffer) on January 11, 1958. Together they had two daughters. They made their living farming and working for Winnebago Industries until retirement in 2008. He took yearly fishing trips with his family to Canada and along the East Coast. He also loved deer and elk hunting, gardening with his wife and spending time with family and close friends. Marlin was a hard worker, willing to lend a hand to anyone and was a friend to everyone he met.
Marlin is survived by his wife Jean, daughter Patsy and Mike Ackerman and daughters Collette & Brian Andreasen (Lillian & William), Shelby and Dana of Nevada, Iowa. A Daughter Deb and Greg Poyzer and son Christian of Bloomington, MN. He is also survived by his mother Clara Mayland of Titonka, Iowa, a sister Verlene Benck, and brothers Rich Mayland, Eddie Mayland, Bill Mayland, Jim Mayland and Henry Mayland. Marlin was preceded in death by his father Hank Mayland.
