LELAND -- Marshall A. Bredeson, age 68 of Leland, died Friday, December 7, 2007 at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa. Funeral service will be Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at 10:30 AM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Leland with Pastor Timothy Miller officiating.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Tuesday, November 11 at Petersen Lund Funeral Home in Forest City and one hour prior to service at the church. As per Marshall's wishes, following the funeral service his body will be cremated and inurnment will be held in the spring.
Marshall A. Bredeson was born in Lake Mills, Iowa on January 17, 1939, the son of Arthur and Gladys (Howard) Bredeson. He received his education in Leland and served in the US Armed Forces during the Korean Conflict. He was a long-time member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Leland.
On August 14, 1970, he was united in marriage to Sherry Johnson at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Leland. The couple made their home in Leland their entire married lives.
Marshallís working life began at Sidís in Forest City. He managed the Liquor Store for a time and then began working at Kayot Forester. Later on he worked for Winnebago Industries as a security guard, eventually becoming an electrician in Customer Service, a position he held for 34 1/2 years until retiring on October 17, 2007.
Marshall enjoyed camping and visiting with friends and family. He liked to read, do crossword puzzles and watch classic movies on television. He was always ready to share a joke with you and loved sitting down to a good meal but most of all he treasured time spent with his family, especially his grandson Ethan.
Marshall is survived by his wife, Sherry, of Leland and daughter and son-in-law Nicole and Jim Weaver of Waukee, Iowa and grandson Ethan. Also surviving is a brother, Dale Bredeson of Spencer, Iowa; sister-in-law Wanda Bredeson of Forest City, Iowa; brother-in-law Kevin Johnson of Forest City; brother-in-law Gayle (Virginia) Johnson of Arizona; sister-in-law Donna (Herman) Gerdes of Stromsburg, Nebraska and many nieces and nephews and cousins.
Marshall was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Orland and Eva Johnson, a brother Donald and sister-in-law Donna.
