Mary Ann Evans

Mary Ann Evans, 80 of Forest City died Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with Pastor Rod Hopp officiating.

A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Burial of cremains will take place at a later date.
Memorials may be directed to Forest Plaza Assisted Living in Forest City in Mary’s name.

Mary Ann Evans was born November 7, 1937 in Decorah, Iowa, the daughter of Myron and Ellen(Hildahl) Martinson. She graduated from Forest City High School with the class of 1955. She attended a year of college at Waldorf College.

She married Adolph Swenson and they had two daughters, Melanie and Nancy
In 1980, Mary Ann married Ken Evans in Albert Lea, MN. Mary Ann and Ken enjoyed their motorcycle trips to Sturgis and road trips in their Corvette.
Mary Ann worked for many years at Compact Industries and Larson Manufacturing in Lake Mills.

After retiring from Larson's in 2003, she moved to Forest City where she built her home at Bear Creek Ct.

Mary Ann enjoyed many years of traveling to different places. One of her greatest trips was traveling to Norway with her brother Dale, sister Chick and their spouses.
Mary Ann enjoyed walking, riding her bike, dancing, hardanger, rosemaling and baking lefse. She loved visits with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She currently resided at Forest Plaza Assisted Living in Forest City.

Mary Ann is survived by daughters, Melanie (Mark) Richardson of Burlington, IA; Nancy (Dick) Welp of Forest City; six grandchildren, Matthew (Kelli) Welp, Adam(Katie) Welp, Jillian Welp and fiancé Kolton Reed, Michael (Tessa) Richardson, Christopher Richardson and John Richardson and 5 great grandchildren; one brother, Dale Martinson of Radcliffe, IA; sister, Elaine(Chick) Thurston and brother-in-law, Jack Thurston of Forest City; sister-in-law, Joanne Evans of Albert Lea, MN and brother-in-law, Andy Tatarek of Albert Lea, MN and special friend, Joe Schafer of Mason City.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ken; brother-in-law, Eugene Evans; sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Tatarek and sister-in-law, Adoline Martinson.
