Maynard A Peterson

FOREST CITY - Maynard A. Peterson, age 67 of Forest City, died Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Muse Norris Hospice in Mason City.



Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Petersen Lund Funeral Home 505 N Clark St in Forest City. Visitation will began at 12:00 Noon and continued until the time of service on Wednesday March 17th.



Inurnment will be in the spring at Salem Cemetery in Lake Mills.





Maynard Aldean Peterson was born near Thompson, Iowa on March 14, 1942 to Norris and Alice (Trytten) Peterson. He attended school in Kiester and Forest City and lived on the farm north of Scarville for 14 years.





As a young man of 16, Maynard was involved in a nearly-fatal farming accident. He eventually recovered but his extensive injuries would challenge him physically for the rest of his life.





Maynard worked for Fryer Farms, Gulf Oil, the City of Forest City, Trytten Construction and many other jobs around the country. Maynard was married to Barbara Rosen on October 17, 1979. They were later divorced.



Survivors include his son Danny Peterson and his special friend Lauren Strandell of Thompson; grandson Grant Lee Peterson; daughter Dawn Rosen and step-daughter Rhonda Rosen, both of Thompson; sister Ardella Thompson of Albert Lea, MN; brother Kenneth Peterson of Forest City; ten nieces and three nephews.



Maynard was preceded in death by his parents, wife Barbara, brothers Norman and Orlando and nephews Danny and Dale.



The family wishes memorials be directed to Hospice of North Iowa.
