Melvin M. Eenhuis, 77, of Norwalk, formerly of Hayfield, died Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Regency Health Care Center in Norwalk.
According to his wishes his body was cremated. No services are planned.
Melvin Menno Eenhuis, the son of Menno and Mathilda (Schlawin) Eenhuis, was born June 2, 1940 on a farm near Hayfield. He was baptized at Zion United Church of Christ in Garner and confirmed at Peace Reformed Church south of Garner. He graduated from Hayfield Consolidated School in 1958. Melvin spent several years in the financial world as a loan officer and collection correspondent. He also worked for the United State Postal Service for over eighteen years in Mason City followed by Sears Credit Central in Des Moines. He was married to Pauline Palmer April 2, 1994 in Des Moines. They made their home in West Des Moines. He loved to work with horses.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Mason City for over ten years.
Melvin is survived by his wife, Pauline, of West Des Moines; two sons, David (Toalima) Eenhuis and Steven (Shirley) Eenhuis; several grandchildren; great grandchildren; and a sister, Marjorie Peterson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother-in-law, Orlando Peterson.
