FOREST CITY ñ Mildred L. Thompson, 87, of Forest City died Tuesday (July 24, 2007) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday at West Prairie Lutheran Church near Leland with Rev. Timothy Miller officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Lutheran Cemetery in Vinje.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Petersen Lund Funeral Home in Forest City is in charge of arrangements.
Mildred Luella Thompson, the daughter of Walter and Emma (Brakke) Olson, was born February 17, 1920 at Albert Lea, MN. She was raised by Palmer and Nora Olson of Leland and grew up with their son, Clifford, as her brother. She attended school at Lake Mills. On December 9, 1937 she was married to Alfred Thompson at Scarville. They farmed in the Leland, Scarville and Forest City areas. After retiring from farming, they moved into Lake Mills and in 1973 to Forest City. She enjoyed spending time with her family, flowers and wintering in Texas.
She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Vinje.
Mildred is survived by her daughter, Jean (Allen) Peterson of Leland; her son, Jerry (Debbie) Thompson of Lebanon, MO; three grandchildren, Nancy (Bruce) Buffington of Forest City, Tammy Callahan of Leland and David (Robin) Peterson of Forest City; five great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred, in 1985; her parents; son, Duane; and two great granddaughters, Heather and Tara.
