Mona Rae Lunning

Mona Rae Lunning, 77, of Forest City, died Saturday, August 12, 2017 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the Cataldo Schott Funeral Chapel, 505 North Clark St. Forest City, Iowa 50436 with Pastor Dan Larson, Chaplain-Hospice of North Iowa officiating.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at the funeral home.

Burial will be held in Madison Township Cemetery in Forest City, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Mona Rae Lunning memorial fund in care of the family.

Mona Rae Lunning was born August 29, 1939 in Iowa City, Iowa the daughter of Roy Elmer and Katherine (Richardson) Johnson. She was married to Jerry Lunning on June 13, 1970 in Clear Lake, Iowa, to this union two sons, Jerry Jr. and Virgil Roy Lunning were born.

Mona enjoyed spending time outside, mowing yards, gatherings with neighbors and friends, attending family reunions and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mona also liked listening to music, especially Johnny Cash. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Lunning; sons, Jerry Lunning Jr. and Virgil Roy (Shea) Lunning all of Forest City; grandchildren, Kelly Ranae Munroe (Larissa), Juliet Sorteberg, Elsa JoDel, Trinity Faith and Tristan Wayne Lunning; siblings, Roy Leland Johnson, Neile Randall Johnson and many nieces and nephews.

Mona is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Bernetta Burns and Michael Joseph Johnson.
