Nathan M. Quail, age 18 of Forest City, died Monday, August 14, 2006 at his home in Forest City. Funeral service will be Thursday, August 17 at 10:30 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with Pastor Lee Laaveg officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 16 from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home and an hour prior to service at the church.
Nathan (Nate) Michael Quail was born in Mason City, Iowa on May 28, 1988, the son of Steve Quail and Diane (Faught) Quail. He was a student at Forest City Community Schools and would have been a senior this fall.
Nathan loved football, the military, music, and his friends. He took great pride in playing football for the Indians wearing his #92. He also participated in wrestling and track.
Nathan sought the life of a soldier as he attended various Naval Sea Cadet training camps. His fellow Army recruiters and recruits felt that he had the ìheart of a soldier.î Nathan excelled at the trumpet and loved marching band with its powerful sounds and percussion cadences. His big heart showed true with the love he gave and received from his friends and family who surrounded his life. He was a fun-loving and colorful young man.
Nathan is survived by his parents: Steve Quail of Hartley and Diane Quail of Forest City; his brothers Cory Quail of Cedar Falls and Jesse Quail of Forest City; grandparents include Gary and Deloris Faught of Mason City; John and Irene Quail of Weslaco, Texas. Also surviving are one aunt and two uncles: Deb Faught of Coralville; Stuart Woodman of Mt. Holly, North Carolina; and Brian Quail of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Also two special cousins: Payton and Charlie Jo Woodman. Many friends, especially Alicia, Mike, Ryan and Shane. Finally, the family pet, Max.
Nathan was preceded in death by great-grandmother Ida Hansen, great-grandparents Audrey and Dorothy Faught, grandmother Nancy Quail and aunt Susie Woodman.
