FOREST CITY - Ordean F. Fredrickson, age 71 of Forest City, died Saturday, September 6, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City due to an accident.
Funeral service will be Thursday, September 11, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with Pastor Rod Hopp and Pastor Barb Spaulding officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Forest City.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday, September 10th at funeral home and an hour prior to service at the church.
Ordean Franklin Fredrickson was born in Forest City, IA on April 15, 1937, the son of Oscar and Florene (Walton) Fredrickson. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He attended and graduated from Forest City High School.
On November 30, 1956 he was married to Carmen (Awe) Holland. The couple lived for a short time in Wisconsin before returning to their acerage where they farmed and had livestock. To this union three daughters were born, Darla, Dawn and Cindy. The marriage ended in 1980.
Ordean worked at the Forest City Lumber Company for a time and then in 1962 began working at Winnebago Industries. He was a service technician for the WIT Caravan until the mid 1970s. Fred worked many positions during his career at Winnebago. He retired in 1994 with 33 years of service. After his retirements he returned to Winnebago in 1996 as a tour guide at the visitor's center until 1999.
Fred loved being in the outdoors with family and friends, whether it be camping, fishing or hunting. At home, when not watching "All My Children" or getting together with his "uptown" friends, he enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time in his workshop. Fred also loved his annual trips to Wisconsin to visit his nieces, his brother Gene and wife JoAnn.
A devoted, loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle will be missed by all.
Ordean is survived by his daughters: Darla Beck of Forest City; Dawn (John) Brock of Joice, IA and Cindy Simms of Baltimore, MD. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Christopher, Jillian, Alysha, Cole, Darin, Makenzie and Taylor, two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Kiera two sisters; Sandy (Dennis) Vestweber of Leland, IA and Shari Dakin of Lowry Center, MO, sister-in-law Joanne Fredrickson of Neillsville, WI and aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and long-time friends.
Ordean was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Eugene, infant sons Randy and Danny, an infant daughter and grandson Branden Brock.
