THOMPSON- Paul Johnson, 76, of Thompson died Tuesday (December 6, 20ll) at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, December 9, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Thompson with Pastor Boyd Longshore officiating. Burial will be held at West Prairie Cemetery in Thompson.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 8 from 5 - 7 p.m. at Petersen Lund Funeral Home at 505 N. Clark Street, Forest City and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
Paul Ivan Johnson was born on March 23, 1935 in Forest City, Iowa, to Tommy and Josie (Osheim) Johnson, and was one of five children. Paul was baptized and confirmed at West Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Thompson. He graduated from Thompson High School in 1952. Paul was currently a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Thompson where he served as president of the congregation.
He was united in marriage to Bonnie Mau on July 27, 1957 and to this union, three children were born. Paul farmed and lived on an acreage south of Thompson all of his life. He enjoyed baseball and watching sports, planting trees and establishing wetlands for the wildlife.
Paul is survived by his wife, Bonnie; daughters Sandy (Chuck) Fandel, Estherville; Lisa (Don) Mathahs, Thompson; son Tom (Kathy) Johnson, Humboldt; six grandchildren - Craig Fandel, Keith Fandel, Laura Fandel, Rebecca Johnson, Kelli Johnson, Lindsey Johnson; sister Ruth McKee, Garner; brother-in-law Bill Stille, Texas; sisters-in-law Mary Ann Johnson, Lake Mills; Audrey Stille, Salisbury, Maryland and a host of nieces and newphews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mardelle and Lois; a brother, Neal and a nephew, Randy.
