Randy Scott Hill

Randy Scott Hill, 59, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at his home in Georgetown, TX after almost a 2 year courageous battle with Cancer, with family at his side.

A gathering of friends and family will be held from 1:00-2:30 PM on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Cataldo Schott Funeral Chapel in Forest City, IA. A Celebration of Life service will be at 2:30 PM at the funeral chapel with Pastor Wayne Halverson officiating, followed by a family committal at the West Prairie Lutheran Church cemetery, rural Leland, IA. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Randy was born on July 29, 1957, to Roger H. and Dorothy L. (Anderson) Hill at the Forest City Community Hospital. He was baptized and confirmed at the Center Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills.

Randy was a 1975 Graduate of Forest City Community Schools and a graduate of Waldorf College.

Randy worked as a Service Manager for Gary Tharp Ford, a Mechanical Engineer for Winnebago Industries, worked in the Warranty Department for Ruan Trucking in Des Moines and most recently as the Senior Mechanical Engineer for Applied Rigaku Technologies, Inc. in Austin, TX.

The Ragaku Company develops analytic X-ray technologies spectrometers for elemental analysis in petroleum, mining, refining, and similar analysis including food stuffs and cosmetics, requiring him to travel to Germany and Japan. He loved his work and his co-workers.

Randy was a member of the Crestview Baptist Church in Georgetown, TX where he taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir. Church Pastor Dan Wooldridge and Minister of Music Dan May conducted a Recognition of Life service for Randy on January 29, 2017.

Randy enjoyed coming home to Iowa for family gatherings and to see old friends. He loved baseball and other sports, attending music concerts and volunteering to help the homeless and less fortunate people.

He is survived by his parents, Roger and Dorothy Hill of Leland; siblings, Dr. Larry D. (Dr. Becky) Hill of Thompson and Debra Buffington of Forest City; six nieces and nephews, Bradley (Stephanie) Buffington, Brian (Tora) Buffington, Carrie (Alex) Carris, Dr. Christopher Hill, Jennifer (Jason) Sheehan and Stephanie (Juan) Bernal; sixteen great-nieces and nephews, Laura, Hannah, Jacob, Alyssa, Caleb, Carson, Connor, Cole, Samantha, Tyler, Natalie, Casey, Benjamin, Gabriel, Carter and Elijah.

Randy is preceded in death by grandparents, Jester and Viola Hill and Gilmer and Annette Anderson.

Randy will be missed by all, but we find comfort knowing he is pain free and home with the Lord.
