FOREST CITY - Raymond A. Turner, age 91 of Forest City, died Saturday, December 5, 2009 at his home in Forest City.



Funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at the First Congregational Church in Forest City with Pastor Jon Rollefson officiating.



Visitation will be from 4 PM to 8 PM on Wednesday, December 9 at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home 505 N Clark St Forest City and will continue an hour prior to service at the church.



Inurnment will be held in the spring at Oakland Cemetery in Forest City.



Raymond Alfred Turner was born on January 6, 1918 in Elkader, Iowa, the son of Jesse Byron and Fanny Laura (Crowe) Turner. He graduated from high school and junior college in Elkader.



Ray married Lois M. Becvar on September 13, 1941 in Kahoka, Missouri. Ray served as a Supply Sergeant in the U.S. Army Field Artillery during World War II, both in the United States and in Germany.



Ray was an Iowa State Park Ranger from March 1950 to January 1980, serving at Pammel in Winterset; Lake of Three Fires in Bedford; Ledges in Boone; Backbone in Strawberry Point; Viking Lake in Stanton; and Pilot Knob in Forest City. Ray received many awards and commendations during his years of service.



Ray was loved and will be missed by his wife of 68 years, Lois, and his family: daughter Karen Engebretson (Eugene) of Minneapolis, MN; sons Ray Allan (Peggy) of Rockwell City; Loren (Lisa) of Jefferson; Daryl (GayLynn) of Iron River, WI; and Alan of Palatka, FL; grandchildren David and Steven Engebretson; Michael Lauritsen; Jennifer Utley; Kevin Turner; Chase and Paige Turner; and great-grandchildren: Stephanie and Joshua Engebretson; Zachary, Caleb, and Abigail Utley; Mikayla Lauritsen; and Dimitry Eresov; and great-great-granddaughter McKenzie Eresov.



He was preceded in death by his parents, 11 brothers and sisters, and an infant daughter.
