GARNER – Rena P. Claude Freiberg, 90, of Garner died Monday, November 2, 2015 at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Thursday, November 5, 2015 at The United Methodist Church in Garner with Rev. Paul Evans officiating. Burial will be in the Corwith Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 P.M., Wednesday at Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. 4th St., in Garner with a VFW Auxiliary service at 4 P.M. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Rena Claude Freiberg memorial fund in care of the family.
Rena Pauline Claude Freiberg, the daughter of Frank and Pearl (Gouge) Adreon, was born June 10, 1925 in Corwith. She graduated from Corwith High School in 1944. On September 17, 1943, she was married to Walter C. Claude in Minneapolis, MN. They made their home in Corwith until moving to Garner in 1948. Rena and Walter farmed east of Garner until 1969. Rena worked in Garner at the Ben Franklin Store, Roe’s Super Value, The Garner Greenhouse and Larry’s Super Value grocery. After Walter passed away in 1984, she continued to live in Garner. On April 15, 1989 she was married to Harry Freiberg at the United Methodist Church in Garner. They made their home in Corwith. After Harry passed away in 1997, she returned to Garner. She enjoyed reading, cooking and her grandchildren.
Rena was a member of the Corwith United Methodist Church, UMW, VFW Auxiliary and a Homemakers Club.
Rena is survived by her daughter, Nancy Jo Haan of Garner; son, Tony (JoAnn) Claude of Heron Lake, MN; grandchildren, Darren (Antoni Martinez) Haan, Thomas (Harmonica) Haan, Amy (Brent) Lester, Sarah (Stacy) Datema and Steven E. (Teresa) Claude; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Walter and Harry; son, Steven A. Claude; son-in-law, James Haan; and eight siblings, Erma Garman, Glen Adreon, Philip Adreon, Leon Adreon, Lurlia Fisher, Roseland Claude, Dayton Adreon and Allen Adreon.
