FOREST CITY - Richard H. Adams, 69, of Forest City died Sunday (June 3, 2007) at Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa in Mason City.



Funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M., Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Forest City with Rev. Jerry Swanberg officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery with military rites by the Forest City Veterans Ceremonial Unit.



Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 P.M., Tuesday at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home in Forest City and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.



Richard Harold Adams, the son of Harry and Eva (Winter) Adams, was born August 26, 1937 at Buffalo Center. He graduated from Buffalo Center High School in 1955 and served his country in the U.S Army being stationed in Germany for a year. Following his honorable discharge, he moved to North Dakota where he attended an auto mechanic school. On July 22, 1961 he married Murrill Grisham at West Bend, Iowa. They lived in Forest City all of their married life where Rich was employed as an auto mechanic for Whiteis Auto in Forest City for 28 years. Rich enjoyed spending time with his family and eleven grandchildren. He also enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.



He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Forest City.



Richard is survived by his wife of 45 years, Murrill, of Forest City; four children, Janette (Michael) Stevens of Clarion, Cathryn Failor of Altoona, Joseph (Melissa) Adams of Clear Lake and James (Patricia) Adams of Forest City; eleven grandchildren, Kelly and Adam Stevens, Erin Failor, Jacob, Michael, Cory, Kaitlyn and Matthew Adams, and Madaline, Austin and Sarah Adams; six sisters and one brother, Marge Mutschler of Kiester, MN, Arliss (Tom) Rich of Algona, Sharon (Larry) Nerdig of Forest City, Beverly (Roger) Jutting of Chandler, AZ, Ruth Liebrand of Forest City, Pat (Al) Sorenson of Adams, MN and David (Sharon) Friesenborg of Bartow, FL; and many nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents.
