Roger L. Muth, 87, of Garner, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at his home.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Open House will be held at the Britt Fire Hall Community Room from 2 to 4 pm, Sunday, August 27, 2023.
Roger Lyle Muth, the son of Melvin and Berniece (Beery) Muth, was born May 18, 1936, in Mason City. He grew up on a farm near Mason City and graduated from high school there in 1954. He married Karen Kuhlmeier and worked in the iron mines in northern Minnesota for a short time period. He was a member of the Army Reserves and was honorably discharged. He farmed outside of both Mason City and Britt. Roger owned and operated the Red Rooster Lounge and Dining Room for several years with his former wife, Karen. He was an excellent welder and did welding and fabrication for North Iowa Grain and throughout the north Iowa area as well as for IMT, in Garner. He really enjoyed his softball teams and was very active in the Britt Jaycees. Roger married Bette Goll in 1998, and they thoroughly enjoyed camping and traveling. They especially loved their winters in Las Vegas with their fur babies, Hobo, Nala and Chester. He spent many hours and miles on the snowmobile and was very proud of the funds he raised for spina bifida and the Shriners Circus. He was a wonderful caregiver to Bette in her last years of ill health.
Roger is survived by his daughter, Marta (Allan) Eenhuis of Mason City; son, Michael (Moni) Muth of Britt; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; his brother, Fred (Linda) Muth of Clear Lake; brother-in-law, Leon Lewis of Cedar Rapids; members of the Bette Goll Muth family; several nieces and nephews; and former wife, Karen Muth (Vern Mondry) of Mason City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bette Muth; sister, Carol Lewis; and brother, Ralph (Shirley) Muth.
